Bowel Scan Project

President Jim reported that the Bowel Scan Project had received some good publicity on the ABC News on 26 March. It's a subject that is still hidden in the community and the more publicity the better.

Some 400 flyers have been posted to correspondents on our database. We have received a couple of interest calls and have had some hits on the website link. Fairfield Golf Links management very supportive and has suggested that more signage be provided to advertise the event on site.

Golf Day shirt was displayed at the meeting and Helen did a great job of modeling it.

The publicity article on the Golf Day in the Advance was circulated to all.

Bandaged Bear

Thanks Vicki for reminding us all of Bandaged Bear fundraising. Lots of goodies for sale – pens seemed to be the most popular item. Most in attendance provided some support.

Joker

The pot increases.

This weeks Joker draw raised a total of $62.00 of which $31.00 went into the pot. Luckily, your editor had his number drawn – I was beginning to think my numbers were being deliberately omitted. Unlike my predecessors, I didn't have the nimble fingers to draw the Joker: so jackpot away!!

Semantics

When is a Golf Course a links.

There was some spirited discussion on whether the Fairfield Golf Course was a Golf links. While the signage at the site reports that the "Royal and Ancient Bossley" is in fact the Fairfield Golf Links, there was some dissent. The Concise Oxford Dictionary defines 'links' as "1. Level or undulating sandy ground near sea-shore, with turf and coarse grass; 2. Golf course, esp. one resembling definition 1."

No doubt the illustrious venue for our Golf Day fits the definition.

The New World of Work

A large company, feeling it was time for a shake-up, hired a new CEO. This new boss was determined to rid the company of all slackers. On a tour of the facilities he noticed a guy leaning on a wall. The room was full of workers and he wanted them to know that he meant business!

The new CEO walked up to the guy leaning on the wall and asked, "How much money do you make a week?" A little surprised, the young fellow looked at him and replied, "I make $300 a week. Why?"

The CEO then handed the guy $1,200 in cash and screamed, "Here's four weeks' pay, now GET OUT and don't come back!"

Feeling pretty good about himself, the CEO looked around the room and asked, "Does anyone want to tell me what that slacko did around here?"

From across the room came a voice, "Pizza delivery boy from Domino's."
