Fellow Rotarians and guests, here it is the 'final, perfect' Interlink. I'd like to thank you all for not deleting your Interlink editions in the month of August and your continued support with articles and photos. Please continue your support with our new editor, Chris, as she adds her secret herbs and spices to make our gossip column and enjoyable one…..until next time............ Happy reading! There were no apologies from members at breakfast on Tuesday. Why? Is it because President Keiran insisted we have full attendance due to our District representative's visit? No, off course not, it's because the editor arrived late…… MEMBER INDUCTION Hot of the press, our president had the honour of inducting his first new member. Alan Crane from the NAB at Wetherill Park accepted the club's offer to become our latest new addition to membership status. President Keiran and his members welcomed Alan to the Rotary Club of Wetherill Park and provided him with his Rotary badge. If only Alan new that the badge will cost him weekly if he forgets to wear it. Congratulations Alan and welcome.

Our ROYA presentation of awards was a success which was held at Club Marconi. The evening commenced at 7.00pm and went through until 10.00pm. The night saw our twenty nine nominees all receive a certificate of acknowledgment and both our winners receive their metals and trophies. The winner of our Junior entrants was Lauren Absalom from All Saints Catholic Girls College, Liverpool and our senior winner was Rachael Vella from Evans High School. A highly commended award went to Gabriel Abdala from Fairvale High School. Congratulations to our winners, all entrants, schools, families, judges, committee members and supporters for making the event a success. Well done….

I was meeting a friend in a bar, and as I went in I noticed two pretty girls looking at me. "Nine," I heard one whisper as I passed. Feeling pleased with myself, I swaggered over to my buddy and told him a girl had just rated me a nine out of ten. "I don't want to ruin it for you," he said, "but when I walked in, they were speaking German." June Bragg, our International Director, reminded everyone that the shoeboxes need to be available to her by end of September in order for them to be sent overseas to underprivileged children for Christmas. She would appreciate your support for this International Project by either making up shoeboxes with the items listed below or by supplying these items & she will make the boxes up. Each shoebox is to include: Something to wear, something to eat (no chocolate or lollies please), something to play with, something to write/draw etc on/with, some item of toiletry & something to love. The boxes are to be covered in wrapping paper with a rubber band holding it together. Last year some photos were put into the boxes so the children knew who their gifts were from. Four more weeks to go so please help June to exceed last years target. Two kids are arguing over whose father is the biggest scaredy-cat. The first kid says, "My dad is so scared that when lightning strikes, he hides underneath the bed." The second kid replies, "Yeah? Well, that's nothing. My dad is so scared that when my mom has to work the nightshift, he sleeps with the lady next door." SHELTER BOXES Peter provided some useful statistics to show Australia's success in raising money through the purchase of shelter boxes. In 2006 Australia raised $1.14M, an increase from 2005 where k$756 were raised. Well done to all who supported this cause. We need Interlink editors…………..… We need editors to keep this informative newsletter afloat. Chris is the only one sympathetic enough to try it. It only means 4 weeks worth of attending the meetings, listening and writing up a simple review of the week's events. Renzo's fright has resulted in him leaving for an overseas trip so what's your excuse? If I can learn to listen then anyone can. Please let your club know which month suits you. | Month | Monthly Editor | | September 2007 | Chris Hunter | | January 2008 | Tina Atai | Your support is required by submitting interesting info for inclusion in one of the forthcoming editions. Suggestions for submissions to Interlink newsletter can be an article, a joke or amusing story, a photo, directors or committee report, a reminder, an idea, anything of interest to the member's family and friends. Remember this is our Interlink, be a part of it. To stay up to date with current and future events why not breakfast with us on Tuesday at 7.15am for a 7.30 start for one hour and make sure you visit us at www.wprotary.com.au Tina offers five tips for a woman.... 1. It is important that a man helps you around the house and has a job. 2. It is important that a man makes you laugh. 3. It is important to find a man you can count on and doesn't lie to You. 4. It is important that a man loves you and spoils you. 5. It is important that these four men don't know each other. See you later alligators'…..Your Editor - Helen Syrmalis
